Yay extra day in Vail!!! →
After a full powerday (15 inches of fresh powder) the road out of Vail is closed, I guess we will have to ski an extra day.
Favorite Interview Questions
I have been interviewing developers for both full time and internship positions for about 2 years now, and have a pretty solid set of questions that I ask. I was trying to find some new questions today and came up empty. I figured I would share my Favorite one, and hopefully people will reblog this with there’s (they don’t have to be technical questions).

Practical Common Lisp →
I decided to learn Lisp, Dan said that it will make other languages feel like I am programming in a straight jacket. After reading this I am already starting to see how.
An even more impressive instance of remote debugging occurred on NASA’s 1998 Deep Space 1 mission. A half year after the space craft launched, a bit of Lisp code was going to control the spacecraft for two days while...

John Adams
So I know I am late to the table but I watched the first 2 episodes of John Adams last night on demand. All I have to say is Incredible! This is by far the best thing to come out of HBO since From the Earth to the Moon, I admit the end of the Lunar Lander episode got me all welled up (its the Engineer in me). This is a must watch for everyone, if for some reason you chose not to, take 20 minutes...

Not Good at Math? Blame Your Inner Fish →
Apparently female mosquitofish can only count to four. How do you test that, well the people at university of Padua in Italy came up with a very cool research design to figure it out:
When males bother females, the females try to flee to the biggest group of nearby females. When given the choice between two groups — one with three other fish and another with four — the females consistently...

Sometimes I feel like an imposter, asserting my love for music without being able to claim even half the musical knowledge shared by some of my friends (Adam, Amanda, Pavla, Jakob, oh I don’t know, EVERYONE). I wish I could participate in the (seemingly) compelling conversations between Adam and his friends, discussing the pros and cons of bands while I’m simply learning of...

Growing up in CT and loving hockey there will always be a special place in my heart for The Whale. LETS GO WHALERS!!!!!
hilker:
“Bleeding Green is the story of Hartford’s major league hockey fans; the glory of their past, the hope of their future and the excruciating limbo of their present. Find out why ‘the Hartford Whalers, even though they don’t exist, still have a lot going for them!’”...
Barack Obama’s Speech on Race →
And yet words on a parchment would not be enough to deliver slaves from bondage, or provide men and women of every color and creed their full rights and obligations as citizens of the United States. What would be needed were Americans in successive generations who were willing to do their part – through protests and struggle, on the streets and in the courts, through a civil war and civil...

New York Times Kill Doubleclick Dictionary →
I think this is one of the worst features on the web, as I read online I tend to follow with the mouse and click. That makes reading the NYT online extremely annoying. Because NYT does not allow you to opt out if it here is a handy GreaseMonkey script to do so.
A message to fellow NYC Subway patrons
This morning as I was coming down the stairs into my Subway stop I heard that wonderful sound of the train just pulling into the station. “This is going to be a good day!” I thought to myself as I was already running a bit late and this meant I would have just enough time to grab coffee before my morning meeting.
Or so I thought, my great morning was about to turn as I noticed that...
